Tamu Al-Islam is a diversity and inclusion strategist and practitioner with global experience leading diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives and inclusive organizational change. Previously, she was the Executive Director of Inclusion & Equity for New York University Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where she lived and worked for 11 years. Tamu holds an MA in educational leadership focused on intercultural competence. She has led workshops and advocated for social justice and cultural development issues at conferences in Nigeria, Turkey, Spain, Jamaica, Italy, the U.K., the UAE, the U.S., and India.Tamu is a Soulful Facilitator certified by the Symponia Institute for Global Compassionate Healing, and has been appointed to the faculty of Future Leaders of the World’s (FLOW’s) inaugural Master Leader Program based in South Africa. Her visionary independent practice, TAMU Consulting, LLC specializes in prescribing organizational DEI programs and practices, facilitating intercultural fluency development, and mediating culture-based conflict resolution.
